Hello! How Are You?

HI!! We are so glad to be here and even happier that you could join us on our quest. We can’t wait to get started! So, with that said, let’s do it. You see, we have been married for more than 30 years and, ever since leaving the military we have lived life in a series of mini-adventures. Now, as we head into our “Golden” years (more like “Silver” year if you look at our hair!) we are heading out on what we hope will be our final voyage. We are taking our two pups and our cat, jumping aboard our Skoolie, and setting out on the byways and back roads of this great nation in hopes of discovering what truly makes her heart keep beating. We want you to come along for the ride.

We want to share the good, the bad, and the indifferent of full-time life on the road, in a tiny space, on a fixed budget. How did we finance the initial expense for our set up? How do we budget our minimal monthly income to cover all of our day-to-day expenses while planning for future and unexpected costs? How far are we going to go? What do we plan to do while we travel? Where will we be staying while we are on the road? How will we be preparing our meals and what will our diet consist of? How often will we do our shopping, what will we buy, and how much? Where will we keep everything we need for living in such a small space? How will we store enough water to meet our needs?

Hopefully we can cover the answers to all of these questions and many more. I know there are a lot of places where you can look for the information that we plan to share. We fed our dreams by looking at a lot of those blogs, vogs, and other social media sites. One thing we haven’t found in all of our reading and viewing, though, is the total story. We hope to give you the 360* view. If we can lay it all bare for you, perhaps you can see that it is possible to achieve the “American Dream” in a non-traditional manner. Maybe you will find that something you were considering is not right for you. It is possible that you might see a way to do things better in a certain area. If you have experience in something and you wish to share it you may even be able to help us improve the way we do things along the way.

We would also like to address issues that keep others from stepping out and taking the chance at something different. For instance, how do you deal with being away from family and friends while traveling on a permanent basis? What happens during the holidays when you are alone so far away? How do you receive mail, medications, and other necessities when you don’t have a permanent, physical address? What happens if there is an emergency and no one knows where you are? Do you feel safe and secure traveling so much? There are so many areas of concern, doubt, and fear when it comes to being a nomad. Wouldn’t you like to have the answers? Maybe you even have a question we haven’t considered and you would like to broach the subject. That’s why we are here.

Meanwhile, we look forward to traveling the lost byways, meeting the unique folks, and visiting the forgotten places that come together and make this nation what she is and has always been…..Our Home Sweet Home! Outside of the major population centers and off of the interstate highways lie the truth of her heartbeat and we want to find the pulse. We look forward to meeting you out there.
